Daytime temps are starting to drive the fish off. That should not be a shock to anyone. I’m absolutely amazed that the fishing has stayed as good as it is for so long. And it still is good - at the right time of the day…and in the right spot…and with the right fly. CPT Bob Ruckdeschel has cracked the code on all three. Here’s the evidence.

CPT Bob Ruckdeschel and some Lost Lake asp.

Bob is one of the instructors in our casting clinic. He lives just off some good Asp water on lost lake. He took a half-dozen nice ones like these in the hour bracketing sunset. At that time, the wind usually dies down and the fish start really hunting in the lower light. Bob used an olive soft-hackle with variegated “crazy legs” instead of marabou or rabbit fur for a pulsing tail.

Congrats!! To 1SG Michael Smith on his first fish on a fly rod!
